Lisa worked closely with us to extend our vision, using her collective experiences to incorporate details that we now reflect upon with amazement and joy.
We chose Simply Southern to create our house because they earned our complete trust. Even though we would be in Virginia throughout construction, they made us active partners along every step of the process.

“I’ll be with you every step of the process”. These were the words said to my wife and I by Lisa Cornelius, owner of Simply Southern Homebuilder. In making our decision, we were looking for a builder who was personally committed to our home. Someone who would give our home the attention we wanted and maintain communication with us, especially with us living 780 miles away.
Lisa’s assistance in the design process with the architect was invaluable. She was with us every step of the way in selecting everything from hardware and granite for the kitchen, to electrical and plumbing fixtures throughout the house. Her design experience, along with her relationships with all the vendors really helped make the selection process easier and more cost effective. She was simply our advocate!
Our home turned out spectacular and we couldn’t be happier, it’s everything we had hoped it would be. The few issues we had with manufacturer warranties after the fact, Lisa stepped in and was there for us again.
I’m happy to say that my wife, Diane, and I have maintained a friendship with Lisa and her family, after the building process was completed; something I hear is very rare.
I would, and have recommended Simply Southern Homebuilder to others, mainly because of her attention to detail, get it done attitude, and with her helping to accomplish just what we wanted. Every day is a joy in our new home!

We chose Lisa and Simply Southern because we wanted a small custom builder who would be involved on a day-to-day basis with the project, and with whom we would be interacting.
From the beginning, Lisa assisted us through the numerous and sometimes complicated steps of gaining approvals, and designing the house. It was particularly valuable that she made appointments and accompanied us to the various suppliers on everything from lighting, tile, fixtures and appliances, which saved time and ensured that we did not make costly mistakes.
With her background in interior design, Lisa was able to offer suggestions and advice that enhanced the look and feel of the house. Since we were not able to be here during the building process, we relied on her and her team to make sure our interests were looked after, that we were kept informed, and that everything was done to our expectations.
We could not be happier with the results. The quality of construction, finishes, millwork, and details in Simply Southern homes, are in our opinion, superior to others we have seen. And equally important, the project came in on budget and on time.

Unlike most retirees, my husband and I had built and remodeled many homes in the past 25 years. When we decided to build in Bluffton, we wanted a low-country style home but didn’t have the desire to put in the hours of work it takes to make it happen. After interviewing and checking references on several well known builders, we chose Lisa because of her “hands on” guidance. From that point on, we never looked back. For two people who were very tired of building and making choices, Lisa made it FUN and EASY! We actually found that we had similar tastes, and I came to trust her instincts completely. In a few exciting weeks, with Lisa at our side always, we had made our choices, she had negotiated the best prices and it was now up to her team to perform.
We headed back to our summer home on Cape Cod with the intention of returning every few weeks. I still cannot believe that we did not have to return even once before we moved in. Lisa sent photos, emailed us and called weekly to discuss anything new or decisions we needed to make. She treated every decision as if she were building a home for herself! Our house was finished on the date promised and we moved in soon after. We absolutely love our home, as does everyone that walks in. Lisa is an expert builder, designer, negotiator and team player. Our dream home is more than we expected and living in it has been a joy.

During the pandemic, we had postponed our plans to build in the Lowcountry. That changed when we met Lisa and Dave Cornelius and toured a Signature home that they had under construction.
We loved the layout and location and when Lisa took us through two recently completed homes nearby, we were convinced her focus and attention to detail would lead to a great home for us. The gracious homeowners who let us tour gave her the highest marks.
Through the process Lisa was a terrific partner. She helped us navigate approval challenges and supply chain and availability issues and had a super attitude. Her site manager and sub-contractors were first rate – always a good sign.
We were building the home from out of town and could visit every 10 weeks which meant that communication was a key. Lisa kept us posted on the progress with regular photos and emails and when we would send an email with an idea or question, it was answered the same hour.
When we toured our finished home, we felt that Lisa and Dave had built a home that they would be happy to live in. We have asked them to continue as our building partners, putting additions in for the backyard – wasn’t even a question about who would do the work.
We are pleased to call Lisa and Dave neighbors and friends and are so thankful that we built our home with Simply Southern.
